While the majority of us are quarantined, it’s crucial that we take care of ourselves, mentally and physically. When you think of self-care, usually face masks, cupcakes, and bubble baths come to mind. While these things are amazing and they really can help your overall mental state, it’s important to also be able to focus on the aspects of self-care that aren’t as fun, like how you need to be able to recognize when you’re feeling stressed or anxious and make the decision to go workout, or when you make yourself clean your room and go outside when you’ve been in the same space for a while. Sometimes self-care is doing what doesn’t seem like the best thing at the moment because you know it will help in the long run, like giving yourself a break when you have a lot to do so you don’t burn out, or making yourself a fresh meal when you feel like heating up a frozen dinner. Keeping yourself healthy involves knowing yourself and what you need. It isn’t as simple as drinking water and watching Netflix (which still can be great things! They just shouldn’t be the only things), but future you, even if it’s just ten-minutes-from-now-you, will thank you for it.
